EDWARDSVILLE - A former truck driver for Hi-Tech STL Logistics claims he was wrongfully terminated after filing a work comp claim following a crash where another vehicle flipped through the air and landed on his truck.
The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by Nevan Wilson against Hi-Tech STL Logistics.
According to the complaint, Wilson was a truck driver for the defendant. He was driving on Highway 270 in Granite City on Sept. 15, 2021, when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction flipped in the air and landed to the plaintiff's truck. As a result, Wilson claims he suffered injuries to his head, neck, back, right arm, stomach, tailbone, shoulder, teeth and ribs.
Wilson filed a claim with the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission six days after the incident, the suit states. He alleges he was released to return to work on March 22, 2022, but was terminated two days later.
Wilson claims he was terminated in violation of Illinois public policy. He alleges Hi-Tech STL Logistics intentionally acted with reckless indifference to the plaintiff's rights and responsibilities.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for past and future wage loss, lost earning capacity, loss of career opportunities, shame, humiliation, and emotional distress. He is represented by Joshua Miller of The Furniss Law Firm.
