EDWARDSVILLE - A security officer alleges his firearm was unlawful confiscated during a traffic stop, resulting in him losing his job.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by Darnell Watkins against Illinois State Police officer M Cirrincione.

According to the complaint, Watkins alleges he was stopped by Cirrincione on June 27, 2023, who allegedly confiscated his lawful firearm. Watkins claims this action deprived him of his constitutional rights to bear arms as supported by the 2nd and 14th Amendments.

As a result of having his firearm confiscated, Watkins claims he was unable to work in his profession and subsequently lost his job.

Watkins is seeking compensation in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney Thomas Maag of Maag Law Firm.
