EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she was injured when she tripped and fell on a storm drain gate after dining at a cafe.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by Dixie Fenner against Bernadotte Cafe Inc.

According to the complaint, Fenner alleges she sustained injuries due to tripping and falling on a storm drain gate at a property owned and managed by the defendant. The incident allegedly occurred on April 10, 2022, when Fenner was exiting the premises after dining at the cafe.

The complaint states that the defendant failed to inspect, repair, or properly warn about the dangerous condition of the exterior walkways near one of the entrance/exit doors. It further states that the cafe failed to train its employees adequately in identifying such hazards.

Fenner is seeking damages for her bodily injuries, costs of this action, prejudgment interest, post-judgment interest, and any other relief deemed just and proper by the court. She is represented by attorney Michael Glisson.
