Edwardsville police officer sues over collision with intoxicated motorist

EDWARDSVILLE - An Edwardsville police officer claims he was injured when an intoxicated motorist crashed into his vehicle. 

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by officer Jacob Lively against Matthew Bell and Stagger Inn Again Inc.

According to the complaint, Bell became intoxicated at Stagger Inn Again before getting behind the wheel of his Ford Ranger and left. Lively was allegedly stopped in traffic on IL-157 near its intersection with Center Grove Road in Edwardsville when Bell crashed into the plaintiff's vehicle. 

As a result of the collision, Lively claims he sustained severe and permanent injuries leading to significant medical expenses and loss of earnings. 

Lively is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is represented by attorney Robert Marcus of The Gori Law Firm.
