EDWARDSVILLE - A refinery worker claims he was injured when a cable snapped while unloading a crane in Roxana.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by Derian Boyce against Phillips 66 Company, Zachry Industrial, Inc., and Madison Industrial Services Team, LLC.

According to the complaint, Boyce alleges he was injured while unloading a crane at Phillips 66's Refinery in Roxana on Dec. 31, 2020. Boyce claims a cable snapped during the process, hitting him in the head and causing severe injuries, including hyperextending his elbow, wrists, and nerves.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to maintain appropriate safety rules and failing to properly supervise the work.

Boyce seeks a judgment in his favor. He is represented by attorney Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn.
