EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she was injured when she fell in the parking lot at Mazzio's Italian Eatery.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by plaintiff Buffi Gass against Midwestern Pizza Company, Inc., also known as Mazzio’s Italian Eatery.

According to the complaint, Gass claims she was in the parking lot at Mazzio's when she fell due to improperly sloped asphalt. She alleges the defendant was negligent in its duty to maintain a safe environment for patrons.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to provide a safe place for customers, provided improper maintenance of the parking lot, and failed to provide proper warning about the alleged dangerous condition.

As a result of her fall, Gass allegedly suffered injuries to her head, body, limbs, left foot and ankle. She claims to have incurred medical expenses, lost wages and lost future earning capacity. Additionally, she reports experiencing pain, suffering, anxiety and emotional distress.

Gass is seeking a judgment against Midwestern Pizza Company for an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs associated with the lawsuit. She is represented by attorney Michelle Rich of Rich Rich Cooksey & Chappell PC.
