EDWARDSVILLE - A man claims he suffered injuries after falling down faulty steps.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by Michael Alston against SLR Homes, LLC and David Rull.

According to the complaint, Alston was at the defendant's property on March 22, 2022. He claims that while he was exiting, he fell down the stairs and suffered injuries to his left knee, leg, and back.

Alston alleges the defendants failed to maintain the premises in a safe condition, failed to provide a safe means of egress into the dwelling, failed to inspect the stairway to ensure it was in good condition, violated building codes during construction of the steps to the property, failed to apply non-slip surface treatment to the steps and failed to provide handrails on exterior stairs.

Alston is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 from each defendant. He is represented by attorney Samuel Mormino of Mormino Snider Law.
