BELLEVILLE - A woman claims she was wrongfully named a niece in her father's will, preventing her from collecting her inheritance.

The lawsuit was filed in the St. Clair County Circuit Court by Kelnesha Nelson against Shemika D. Mitchell, Monica A. Harris, and Michael A. Harris for alleged tortious interference with her inheritance rights.

According to the complaint, Nelson alleges she is the daughter of Tommy Harris, deceased, and was born out of wedlock. She cites an order from 1986 acknowledging paternity by Harris as evidence to her claims. However, she claims she was wrongfully named as a niece in her father's will instead of his daughter.

Nelson alleges the defendants acted in concert to obtain Nelson's inheritance from her father, which includes personal property, a newly purchased truck, and proceeds from pending lawsuits valued at over $200,000.

The plaintiff seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney David Duree.
