EDWARDSVILLE - A man claims several fraudulent credit card accounts have not been properly investigated after his identity was stolen.

The lawsuit was filed by Anthony Allsup in the Madison County Circuit Court against three major credit bureaus, including Trans Union, LLC, Experian Information Solutions, Inc., and Equifax Information Services, LLC.

According to the complaint, Allsup claims he was a victim of identity theft in August 2023 when he discovered several fraudulent accounts negatively impacting his credit score. The fraudulent accounts were linked to various financial institutions, including Fingerhut/Webbank, Capital One, Avant, Bank of America, Synchrony/Home Depot, CB Indigo, Resurgent Capital, and LVNV Funding.

After discovering the identity theft, Allsup reported the incident to the Madison County Sheriff's Office and the FBI. He also informed the defendant credit bureaus about the fraudulent accounts and requested an investigation into his credit report. However, he alleges that all three defendants failed to conduct a reasonable investigation or comply with the requirements under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

The plaintiff is seeking damages for denial of credit and extreme mental anguish caused by this incident. He demands a trial by jury on all issues. He is represented by attorney Matthew Cook.
