EDWARDSVILLE - A woman is suing her former employer for allegedly discriminating against her due to her disabilities.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by plaintiff Avonlea Schoeneberg against Realms of Gaming, LLC.

According to the complaint, Schoeneberg alleges she was subjected to disability-based harassment and unfair treatment due to her diagnosis of major depression, anxiety disorder, and endometriosis. Schoeneberg claims that despite meeting or exceeding performance expectations at her job as a counter employee, she was treated differently from other employees who were not disabled. She alleges that she was denied reasonable accommodation recommended by her physician, which would have allowed her intermittent leave during disability-triggered episodes.

Furthermore, Schoeneberg accuses the defendant of passing her up for a managerial position due to her disability. She alleges that when she inquired about the denial of a promotion, she was told that she lacked the tenacity for such a role, referencing her disabilities.

The plaintiff also accuses the defendant of making derogatory comments about her mental capacity, exacerbating her disability-related symptoms.

The plaintiff seeks compensation in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Mohammed Badwan of Sulaiman Law Group.
