A woman alleges she slipped on a foreign substance while shopping at a Wal-Mart store, leading to serious injuries.
The lawsuit was filed on Dec. 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court by Evelyn Otten against Wal-Mart, Inc. and Chris Sotolar.
The complaint states that the defendants knew or should have known about the presence of the foreign substance on the floor. It further alleges that Wal-Mart failed to keep its premises safe for customers and neglected to inspect the area for potential hazards.
In addition to Wal-Mart, Chris Sotolar is also named as a defendant. The document does not specify his role or connection to the incident but suggests he had control over the area where Otten fell.
Otten is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and disability caused by her fall. She is represented by Hipskind & McAninch LLC.
