The operators of Longhorn Steakhouse deny liability in a woman's suit alleging she was knocked to the ground when she was struck by an exit door.

Plaintiff Ann Ernst originally filed the complaint in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Darden Restaurants Inc., which operates Longhorn Steakhouse. The lawsuit was later removed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

According to the complaint, Ernst alleges she was struck by an exit door and knocked to the ground while leaving the restaurant on March 2, 2022. The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to maintain a safe environment, leading to her injuries.

In response, Darden Restaurants, represented by attorney Gregory D. Conforti of Johnson & Bell Ltd., denies all allegations. The defendant asserts they lack knowledge of the incident and deny any breach of duty imposed by law. They further argue that Ernst contributed to her own injuries.

The case continues as both parties prepare their arguments for court.
