Lewis and Clark Community College is being sued for allegedly failing to properly maintain a fire training tower, allegedly returning it in a damaged condition.

The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by QEM Fire Protection District against Community College District Number 536, also known as Lewis and Clark Community College.

The suit alleges a breach of contract related to the condition of a fire training tower returned to QEM Fire Protection District after use by the college.

According to the complaint, the tower was not in a usable condition and required numerous repairs to bring it back into service. These repairs included fixing door latches, replacing temperature meters and sensors, repairing shutter frames, and replacing broken tiles, among others.

The plaintiff seeks a judgment in excess of $164,449, plus interest and court costs. It is represented by attorney Jason D. Johnson of James Kelly Law Firm in Edwardsville.
