EDWARDSVILLE – A shopper is suing Dollar General after she allegedly slipped and fell on the wet floor.

Plaintiff Clevonna C. Jirdon filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dollar General Retail, LLC, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Jirdon was a patron at a Dollar General store in Alton on April 5, 2022. Jirdon states that while she was shopping, she slipped on a wet part of the floor and fell, severely injuring herself.

According to Jirdon, Dollar General negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers

Jirdon alleges she has suffered injuries to her knee, which have caused her to experience pain, suffering and lost wages. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Keith Short of Keith Short and Associates in Alton.
