BELLEVILLE – A woman has filed a negligence lawsuit claiming she was attacked by a neighbor's dog while visiting their home.

Plaintiff Andrea Reeg filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Darryl Reed, citing negligence in violation of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 17, 2021, the plaintiff was a visitor at the defendant's O'Fallon residence when the defendant's dog allegedly attacked her without provocation.

Reeg states that she has sustained injuries, which have caused her to experience pain, suffering, mental anguish, and lost wages. She claims her injuries will affect her ability to enjoy normal activities and earn income in the future. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The lawsuit states that under the Illinois Control Act, the owner of a dog is liable for injuries caused by the animal.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Nathan C. Lanter of Nelson & Nelson Attorneys at Law, P.C. in Belleville.
