BELLEVILLE – A shopper is suing a Fairview Heights liquor store after he allegedly slipped and injured himself.

Plaintiff David Spencer filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Illinois Fine Wine & Spirits, LLC doing business as Total Wine Spirits Beer & More, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Spencer Williams was a patron at the Total Wine Spirits Beer & More in Fairview Heights on July 18, 2022. He claims that while he was shopping, he slipped on a liquid that was on the floor. He allegedly fell on his hip and sustained serious injury.

According to Spencer, the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Spencer alleges he suffered injuries which have caused him to experience disability, pain and suffering. He claims his injuries will impact his ability to enjoy a normal life. He adds that he has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis of Jerome, Salmi and Kopis, LLC in Fairview Heights.
