EDWARDSVILLE – A construction worker claims he was injured when a scaffolding pan fell on him.

Plaintiff William Randle filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Brand Safway, LLC and the Phillips 66 Company, citing carelessness and negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Randle was employed to do insulation work at the Phillips 66 oil refinery in Wood River. The lawsuit states that prior to this date, Phillips 66 entered a contract with Brand Safway to provide contractor services for scaffolding at the oil refinery. The plaintiff's employer was allegedly working under contract with Brand Safway.

The plaintiff alleges that on Jan 22, 2021, a scaffolding pan suddenly fell on him after he stepped off of a scaffold ladder, causing him to suffer injuries.

According to the plaintiff, the defendants negligently failed to provide him with a safe place to work.

Randle claims he has suffered severe injuries which have resulted in disability. He states that his injuries have caused him to endure pain, suffering, emotional distress and loss of wages. He claims his injuries will impact his ability to earn income in the future. The lawsuit states that because if his injuries, Randle has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by the attorneys of Rich, Rich, Cooksey & Chappell, P.C. in Fairview Heights.
