BELLEVILLE – Several construction companies are being sued after a drywall worker was allegedly injured at the construction site of the St. Louis Major League Soccer stadium.

Plaintiffs Adam and Michaela Cassulo filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendants J.F. Electric Group, Keeley Construction Group Inc., Alberici Constructors, Inc, M.A. Mortenson Company, The Kwame Building Group, Inc. and Neihaus Building Services, LLC., citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, Adam Cassulo was employed by Von Alst Operating, LLC to do drywall work at the construction site of the St. Louis Major League Soccer stadium in St. Louis. J.F. Electric Group was also a contractor performing electrical services at the construction site.

Cassulo alleges that on Jan. 13, he was performing his duties at the construction site. He was attempting to maneuver a fully loaded drywall cart, when the cart suddenly toppled on top of him and crushed him, causing him to suffer serious injuries. The cart had become entangled on an electrical cord, which was connected to temporary lighting, that was placed underneath the drywall cart.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendants, individually and through its agents, were negligent and careless in placing electrical cords in a manner that they were placed beneath a drywall cart, causing a dangerous condition. The lawsuit also states that the defendants were negligent in failing to furnish the plaintiff with a safe place to work, failing to provide proper training on safe placement of electrical cords and failing to properly inspect the work area for danger.

Adam Cassulo claims he suffered severe injuries to various parts of his body, which have caused him to suffer from disability. He alleges he has incurred medical costs and will continue to require medical care to recover from his injuries. He adds that his injuries have caused him to experience pain and suffering, emotional distress, mental anguish. Furthermore his injuries have caused him to lose wages and will impact his ability to earn income in the future. Michaela Cassulo alleges that as a result of the incident, she has been deprived of her husband's consortium and support.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. They are represented in this case by the attorneys of Rich, Rich, Cooksey & Chappell, P.C. in Fairview Heights.
