EDWARDSVILLE - A Staunton woman is suing a dog owner, claiming the animal entered the plaintiff's house and bit her.
Jonette Bellovich filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ryan Page and Danelle Garner, alleging violations of the Animal Control Act.
According to the complaint, on April 25, Bellovich's dog was restrained in her yard at her Staunton residence, which was surrounded by a fence. She alleges Garner's dog was on the property she was renting in Staunton without a leash or other restraint. Garner's dog allegedly entered Bellovich's yard and "aggressively came at" the plaintiff's dog without provocation. The defendant's dog then allegedly entered Bellovich's home and "made advances" towards her daughter. The dog then allegedly attacked Bellovich, who claims she suffered a puncture wound to her right arm.
Bellovich claims Garner negligently failed to train, leash and maintain her dog. She also claims the defendant failed to warn neighbors about the dog.
Page is named in the suit as being the landlord of Garner's residence.
Bellovich seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Michael Glisson of Williamson Webster Falb & Glisson in Alton.
