EDWARDSVILLE - A Dow woman is suing an Alton chiropractor's office after allegedly tripping on a curb and hurting her foot in the office parking lot.

Delores Holland filed the complaint in the Madison County Circuit Court against Bemis Family Chiropractic LLC in Alton.

According to the lawsuit, Holland claims the parking lot at Bemis Family Chiropractic had an elevated curb, which was not "clearly visible or marked and hidden from view."

Holland claims the curb caused her to "trip, stumble and fall," on Jan. 14, 2020, the lawsuit says.

As a result, she claims she suffered "substantial injuries," great pain, inconvenience, embarrassment and mental anguish.

"Her overall strength, health and vitality has been greatly impaired," the suit states.

Holland claims the chiropractic clinic had "previously been put on notice that the condition of the curb was a potential hazard."

"Defendant owed a duty to plaintiff to provide a safe parking lot/sidewalk where defendant knew customers would walk," the suit states.

Holland seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000 in damages, plus legal costs. She is represented by Ross Davis of Davis & Gras LLC in St. Louis.
