BELLEVILLE – A Cahokia tenant is suing her landlords after she stepped in a hole while walking her dog and allegedly suffered injuries.

Plaintiff Stacey Conway filed a lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendants Steven and Robin Pulley, citing negligence and carelessness.

According to the lawsuit, Conway entered into a lease agreement to rent a Cahokia property owned by the defendants. The plaintiff states that from the first day she rented the property from the defendants, there was a large hole in the yard obscured by grass that she did not know about. Conway says that on July 11, 2020, she was walking her dog in the yard when she stepped into the hole, causing her to suffer injuries.

The lawsuit claims the defendants were negligent and careless in their failure to properly maintain the property and their failure to notify Conway of the dangerous hole.

The plaintiff claims her injuries have caused her to endure pain, suffering and mental anguish, and will impact her ability to enjoy normal daily activities. Conway also states that as a result of her injuries, she has incurred medical costs and will continue to require medical care to recover from her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by the attorneys of The Cates Law Firm, LLC in Swansea.
