Woman allegedly injured by airborne debris sues man with lawnmower

Lawsuits

A landscaper is being sued by a motorist who claims that a piece of debris was flung at her vehicle, causing her to suffer internal and external injuries.

According to a complaint filed on May 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, defendant Shaun Lloyd was an employee of defendant Minton Outdoor Services on June 2, 2020, when he was mowing grass at 1273 Central Park Dr. in O'Fallon.

Plaintiff Shirley Robinson says she was driving past the property when a piece of wood was caught up in the lawnmower and flung "at a high velocity" towards her vehicle.

Robinson says that the landscaper's and his employer's alleged negligence through failure to notice the debris and remove it before mowing caused her life-altering injuries. She claims she has suffered a loss of normal life and permanent injuries.

Property owner Commercial Property Investors Inc., also is named as a dedendant. Robinson demands more than $50,000 from each defendant for her suffering.

The plaintiff is represented by Brown and Brown, LLP, of St. Louis.

St. Clair County case number 22-LA-444.
