Man sues Collinsville property owner after allegedly tripping over tree

EDWARDSVILLE – A man is suing a Collinsville property owner after allegedly tripping over a tree in his yard and injuring himself. 

Plaintiff Kevin Highley filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendants John and Robin Chomko, citing carelessness and negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Highley was spraying for bugs on a property in Collinsville that was owned by John Chomko when he allegedly tripped over a tree that had been cut down on the property and injured himself. 

Highley claims that as a result of the incident, he has suffered great pain and anguish. He also claims that he has incurred medical expenses and that his injuries will affect his ability to earn income and live a normal life. 

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. He is represented in this case by attorney Benjamin P. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin, P.C. in East Alton.
