BELLEVILLE — A Schnucks supermarket employee alleges a slippery floor in front of the store's ice chest caused her to slip and fall.

Sanita M. Parnell Boyd filed a complaint in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against The Home City Ice Company, alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Boyd was an employee at Schnucks on Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia Heights. She alleges that on Oct. 2, 2021, she was walking toward the check out lanes when she slipped and fell to the ground due to a slippery condition on the floor near the ice chest.

Boyd alleges the defendant was negligent for failing to warn of the slippery condition, which it knew or should have know existed. She also alleges the defendant was negligent for allowing the hazard to exist.

Boyd claims that as a result of her slip and fall, she suffered injuries to her ankle and left side of her body and incurred medical treatment costs.

Boyd seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Keith Short of Keith Short & Associates PC in Alton.
