EDWARDSVILLE – A Kane Village resident is suing a driver for failing to yield the proper right of way while doing a left turn and causing a collision, injuring her.

Plaintiff Leanne Babor filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against defendant William Kemp, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 9, 2022, Babor was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling northbound in the inner lane of State Street near the intersection with W. Delmar Ave in Alton, IL. Babor claims that Kemp was driving his vehicle in the opposite direction on the same road also in the inner lane. The lawsuit states that Kemp failed to yield proper right of way and conducted a left-hand turn that struck the vehicle the defendant was in.

Babor claims she has suffered injuries "both temporary and permanent" that will affect her ability to enjoy daily activities. The plaintiff states that she has incurred medical expenses as a result of the collision and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

Babor is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented in this case by attorney Lanny Darr of Darr Law Offices, Ltd. in Alton.
