EDWARDSVILLE - The Southwest Regional Medical Center is suing a man for allegedly failing to pay for services rendered after his wife died under their care.

Plaintiff Southwestern Regional Medical Center, Inc. filed a lawsuit on March 23 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Hale Miles, citing failure to pay for services rendered.

According to the lawsuit, the defendant's spouse Pauline Miles died on Jan. 25, 2012, while in the care of Southwestern Regional Medical. The plaintiff claims that prior to her death, Pauline had accepted and agreed to pay Southwestern $127,719.48 for hospital care and medical services. Southwest asserts that after Pauline died, Hale became liable for the debt under the Illinois Expense Act. The lawsuit claims that Hale has failed to pay the debt after Southwest has made demands for payment.

Southwestern is seeking damages in the amount of $127,719.48, plus any other court costs. Southwestern is represented in this case by attorney Michael S. Baim of The CKB Firm in Chicago.
