EDWARDSVILLE –  A St. Louis resident is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a serious head-on collision in Pontoon Beach.

Plaintiff Jacob Stewart filed the lawsuit on March 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Lili Casillas-Torres, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Jan. 2, 2021, Stewart was driving northbound on Highway 111 in Pontoon Beach when Casillas-Torres, who was heading southbound in the opposite direction, allegedly crossed the center line and collided with the front of Stewart's vehicle.

The lawsuit states that Stewart suffered injuries that are "both temporary and permanent" as a result of the collision, which will affect his ability to work and conduct normal activities. Stewart claims he incurred and will continue to incur medical bills for his injuries and recovery.
