EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she was injured when she slipped and fell on a water leak at the Wood River Walmart.

Dora Jeanette Dubish filed a lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart, Inc. and Glenn Masterson, alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Dubish was lawfully on the premises of a Walmart located in Wood River on Oct. 13, 2020. The plaintiff claims to have suffered a fall due to water that accumulated on the floor of the restroom. Furthermore, Dubish claims the fall caused her to suffer personal injuries.

Dubish claims the defendants allowed water to leak onto the floor and remain present, failed to warn patrons of hazardous water accumulation on the floor, failed to remove or warn about dangerous conditions of the store that the defendant should have known existed, failed to routinely clean the floors, failed to expect and observe an area where the water had collected and knew or should have known that failure to inspect and remove the water could cause injury.

Dubish claims she was caused to fall and sustained serious painful and permanent injuries to her head, face, neck, left knee, left forearm and right shoulder. She also claims she endured mental anguish, pain and suffering of both mind and body, loss of enjoyment of a normal life, prevention from attending to usual affairs and duties and liability for medical and other related expenses.

Dubish seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Kari S. Peterson of O'Leary Shelton Corrigan Peterson Dalton & Quillin LLC in St. Louis.
