EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she was injured when she slipped and fell at the Granite City Walmart.
Crastine White filed a lawsuit on Feb. 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart, Inc., alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, White was at the Walmart in Granite City on July 31, 2021. While walking through an aisle inside the store, White claims she slipped and fell on an unknown liquid substance that was not plainly visible or easily discoverable to the naked eye. White alleges the defendant allowed the unknown liquid substance to remain on the floor for an unreasonable amount of time, causing a dangerous condition to patrons.
White alleges Walmart negligently created the dangerous condition, failed to use ordinary care to remove the liquid substance from the floor, failed to discover the dangerous condition after it remained on the floor for an unreasonable period of time, failed to reasonably inspect the premises for the safety of invitees, failed to use ordinary care to barricade the pathway until the substance no longer remained on the floor, failed to use ordinary care to warn of dangerous conditions and failed to provide reasonably safe means on the premises.
White claims she was caused to suffer pain and anxiety of body and mind, emotional upset and physical injury, past and current pain, future pain and injuries, permanent damages, disability and progressive.
White seeks a sum in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by John L. Wilbers of The Wilbers Law Firm LLC in St Louis.
