Suit alleges tractor trailer ran stop sign, caused collision

EDWARDSVILLE - A motorist claims the driver of a tractor trailer failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into her vehicle. 

Catrice Williams filed a lawsuit on Jan. 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mike Schulte Truck Service, Inc. and William D. Harris, alleging negligence. 

According to the lawsuit, Harris is an employee of Mike Schulte Truck Service and was operating a tractor trailer on April 22, 2021. Harris was allegedly traveling eastbound on Wayne Lanter Avenue at its intersection with Washington Avenue at about 9:28 a.m. when he collided with Williams' vehicle. Williams claims she entered the intersection when her the front passenger side of her vehicle was struck by the defendant, who failed to stop at a stop sign. 

Williams claims she had to be transported to a hospital via an ambulance. She alleges that after seven months of treatment, she continues to experience persistent pain from her injuries. 

The plaintiff alleges Harris negligently failed to yield the right of way. 

Williams claims she was caused to suffer past and future pain and suffering, lost wages, past medical bills and future medical bills.

Williams seeks an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs. Williams is represented by Jeremy A. Gogel of The Gogel Law Firm in St. Louis.
