EDWARDSVILLE -- A Schnuck's customer is suing the Alton store after she allegedly tripped and fell on the sidewalk.

Gail Seltzer filed a complaint on Nov. 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Schnuck Markets, Inc., CBRE, Inc., and Madison Plaza Associates, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Seltzer was at the Schnuck's store in Alton on Feb. 1, 2020, when she allegedly tripped and fell on the sidewalk outside. She claims the sidewalk had a trip hazard that had no warning as to the possible danger of causing personal injury.

Seltzer claims Schnuck's negligently failed to warn customers of possible danger and allowed the sidewalk to become sunken, broken, deteriorated and uneven, allegedly making the defendant liable for her incident and injuries.

Seltzer claims she was caused to suffer severe injury, pain and lost enjoyment of life.

Seltzer seeks an award of $50,000 and cost of court. She is represented by Matthew P. Young of Kuehn, Beasley and Young, P.C. in Belleville.
