EDWARDSVILLE -- A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a rear end collision in Collinsville.

Winniefred Stennis filed a complaint on Nov. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Katelyn Gunder, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Stennis was operating a motor vehicle traveling eastbound on Horseshoe Lake Road near the intersection of North Bluff Road on Sept. 8. At the same time, Gruner was operating a motor vehicle traveling eastbound on the same road. Stennis alleges Gruner failed to properly look for other vehicles, failed to apply her breaks to avoid hitting the rear of Stennis' vehicle and failed to regulate proper speed and distance from Stennis' car.

Stennis claims she was caused to suffer injuries to her right cheek, left shoulder, right leg, right knee, right ankle and soft tissue of the cervical and lumbar area. She also claims she incurred medical expenses and suffered disability.

Stennis seeks an award of $50,000, plus cost of suit. Stennis is represented by Michelle M. Rich of Rich Rich Cooksey & Chappell PC in Fairview Heights.
