EDWARDSVILLE — A Walmart customer claims an employee pushed restocking equipment into her and caused her to suffer injuries.

Carol J. Cook filed a complaint Oct. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Cook was shopping at a Walmart in Wood River on Nov. 27, 2019. She alleges that a Walmart employee pushed restocking equipment into her and caused her to suffer injuries.

Cook claims Walmart failed to furnish a reasonably safe aisle and failed to train its employees in the proper handling of restocking equipment. She further claims Walmart was negligent for allowing employees to restock during periods of time when customers would be using the aisles. She also alleges Walmart was aware of the danger and negligently "made a conscious decision to subject the public to risk of harm" from its restocking practices.

Cook seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Edward Unsell of The Unsell Law Firm PC in East Alton.
