BELLEVILLE — A driver claims he suffered injuries in an East St. Louis collision when another driver failed to yield the right of way.

Brian Whitelaw filed a complaint July 23 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christopher K. King, Access Courier Inc., and 1st Choice Delivery LLC, alleging negligence.

Whitelaw alleges in his suit that he was driving a Freightliner tractor trailer on East 3rd Street at the intersection of River Park Drive in East St. Louis on July 29, 2019. He claims King, who was driving his Ford truck, failed to yield the right of way and collided with his vehicle.

Whitelaw claims that as a result of the collision, he suffered serious injuries which caused him to incur large medical bills and prevent him from his daily duties and occupation.

He alleges King was negligent for failing to keep his vehicle under proper control, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to apply the brakes in time to avoid the collision.

Whitelaw seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Anthony Gilbreth of St. Clair, Gilbreth & Steppig LLC in Columbia.
