EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist claims he suffered a fractured sternum and other serious injuries from a head on collision in Godfrey.

Frederick J. Schmiskie filed a complaint Sept. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Lucas A. Stark, alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Schmiskie was driving his Dodge Ram on West Delmar Avenue at its intersection with Emma Lane in Godfrey on May 27. He claims Stark was driving a Chevy Silverado when he collided head on with the plaintiff's vehicle, causing him to suffer injuries to his head, chest, face, neck and back. Schmiskie also claims he suffered a fractured sternum.

Schmiskie claims Stark failed to brake, steer or attempt to maneuver to avoid the collision. He also claims Stark failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his truck in his lane of travel and was speeding.

Schmiskie alleges he also suffered lost wages, disability and disfigurement and incurred large sums in medical care costs, as a result of his injuries.

Schmiskie seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Rodney Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
