Motorist sues over Route 143 collision

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman injured in a crash at a State Road 143 intersection in Madison County claims another driver caused the collision when she failed to stop. 

Miranda Fullerton frequently known as Miranda Kilzer filed a complaint  July 26 in the Third Judicial Circuit for Madison County against Kayla Hultz alleging negligence. 

Fullerton was stopped at a red light in her Ford Escape on State Road 143 at the intersection of Troxler Avenue on Jan. 26, according to her suit. She alleges that Hultz , who was driving a Toyota Camry southbound on State Route 143, failed to stop and collided with the plaintiff's vehicle. 

Fullerton claims that as a result of the collision, she suffered severe and permanent injuries, was disabled and disfigured, and suffered mental anguish. She also claims she become liable for "large sums of monies" in hospital, medical and other healthcare bills. 

Fullerton alleges Hultz was negligent for failing to keep a proper lookout, for speeding and for failing to stop or swerve to avoid the collision. 

Fullerton seeks compensation of more than $50,000, and all other just relief. She is represented by John Hipskind of Hipskind & Mcaninch LLC in Belleville.
