Suit alleges lessee breached contract by interfering with business relationships

EDWARDSVILLE — A spa and salon studio alleges one of its lessees breached their contract by soliciting other lessees, which interfered with their business relationships. 

Bodies Kneaded Inc., filed a complaint  Aug. 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Linda Payton alleging breach of contract and tortious interference with prospective advantage. 

According to the plaintiff's complaint, Bodies Kneaded entered into a "Nail Room" lease agreement with Payton on Feb 12, 2018. As a result of the lease, Payton "obtained access to Bodies Kneaded other lessees." Then in June 2021, Payton elected to terminate the lease. Bodies Kneaded claims that Payton violated the lease agreement by solicited the plaintiff's other lessees that resulted in "the termination of the relationship between such lessees." The plaintiff also claims that Payton's intentional and wrongful interference with its lessees caused the end of their business relationship with Bodies Kneaded.  

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $50,000, plus interest and all other just relief. Bodies Kneaded is represented by Mark Goldenberg and Thomas Horscroft of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli PC in Edwardsville.
