Michael Murphy, Jennifer Martin, and Alec Messina will be the featured speakers at an upcoming environmental hot topics webinar. Topics to be discussed include Illinois environmental legislation and regulations (including Omnibus Energy and revisions to TACO and Illinois groundwater standards), proposed federal PFAS legislation, and environmental justice. All three attorneys are partners in the firm’s Springfield office and focus their practices on various aspects of environmental law. Murphy is an experienced litigator who defends clients in state-initiated enforcement actions and citizen lawsuits claiming injuries from environmental contamination. He has been named both an Emerging Lawyer by Illinois Leading Lawyers and an Illinois Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters. Martin has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer by Law Bulletin Media and speaks and writes regularly on environmental law. Prior to entering private practice, she was an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Control Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. In addition to his environmental law practice, Messina spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice area. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was previously the Illinois Governor’s Policy Adviser on Energy and Environment.
