EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is accused of rear-ending another vehicle while attempting to park on North 2nd Street.

Rokeshia Jones and Jamie Gasper filed a complaint July 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dawn Wilkinson, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Jones and Gasper were occupying a parked vehicle on North 2nd Street in Madison County on July 24, 2020. They allege Wilkinson was attempting to park behind their vehicle when she allegedly rear ended their car and caused them to suffer injuries. The plaintiffs claim they have suffered pain, disability and property damage as a result of the collision and have also incurred medical bills.

They claim Wilkinson negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove while distracted and failed to "use evasive maneuvers" to avoid the rear end collision. They also allege Wilkinson failed to "obey the rules of the road" or use reasonable care in operating her vehicle.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. They are represented by Matthew Young of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
