Suit alleges Madison County Transit driver failed to yield, caused collision

EDWARDSVILLE — A man alleges he suffered injuries after a Madison County Transit driver failed to yield at an intersection, causing a collision. 

Jacob Young filed a complaint May 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Agency for Community Transit Inc., doing business as Madison County Transit, alleging negligence. 

Young was traveling on Central Avenue in Alton near the intersection of Wallace Street on March 24, according to his suit. He alleges that a Madison County Transit bus approached the intersection without yielding and struck his vehicle. which caused him to suffer injuries and incur medical expenses. 

Young alleges he has suffered loss of a normal life, emotional stress and damages to his vehicle. 

He claims the defendant's agent drove the bus in a "reckless manner" and was driving "at a speed greater than is reasonable and proper" for the traffic conditions. Young also claims the defendant's driver failed to "sound an audible horn warning" or reduce the speed of the bus to avoid the collision. 

Young seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Brian Wendler and Angie Zinzilieta of Wendler & Zinzilieta PC in Edwardsville.
