Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — An Edwardsville long-term care facility is accused of negligent care that led to a patient's pressure ulcers and infection.

Andre Jackson, as executor of the Estate of Jane Hornberger filed a complaint  May 13 in the Third Judicial Circuit for Madison County against Dean Schueler, M.D., Anderson Medical Group LLC and Bravo Care of Edwardsville Inc., doing business as Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville alleging negligence.

Jackson alleges in his complaint that in December 2018, Jane Hornberger developed "an early state coccygeal/sacral decubitus ulcer." The ulcer allegedly became worse under the care of the defendants and caused Hornberger to suffer "prolonged medical treatment, pain and suffering." Jackson claims the defendants failed to "regularly" evaluate Hornberger's ulcer for an infection and failed to order a timely evaluation or treatment by a wound care professional. Hornberger later died on July 17, 2020.

Jackson also claims that Hornberger incurred hospital and other medical expenses as a result of the defendants' negligence.

Jackson seeks compensation of more than $75,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Thomas Keefe, Jr., of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
