Patient alleges bone tissue damage due to improper treatment, diagnosis

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A patient claims his physicians' negligent medical care and improper diagnosis led to bone tissue damage.

William Welch filed a complaint April 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Marc McCleary M.D., Michael Nash M.D., Timothy Beaty M.D., and HSHS Medical Group Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Welch was under the care of the defendants when they negligently failed to properly diagnosis his skin issue. He claims they continued to treat him with steroid prednisone, which caused him to develop avascular necrosis. He claims the defendants were also negligent in failing to refer him to a dermatologist and failing to recommend a "more conservative" treatment plan than using oral corticosteroids.

Welch alleges that as a result of their negligent medical care, he suffered pain, mental anguish and incurred "large sums" in hospital and medical bills.

Welch seeks compensation of more than $75,000, and all other just relief. He is represented by Thomas Keefe, III of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
