Suit alleges Madison County Highway employee caused Alton crash

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman claims she suffered injuries after a Madison County Highway employee failed to yield the right way at an intersection and collided with her vehicle.

Janice Crosnoe filed a complaint May 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jace Scheibal and Madison County Highway, alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Crosnoe was driving northbound towards Humbert Road and Union School Road in Alton on May 27, 2020. She alleges that Scheibal, who was operating a Madison Count Highway vehicle, collided with her car and caused her to suffer external and internal injuries.

Crosnoe claims that Scheibal failed to stop or yield the right of way at the intersection and was driving "at a speed that was greater than reasonable and proper." She also claims Scheibal was negligent for failing to stop or swerve his vehicle "at the appearance of danger" to avoid the crash.

Crosnoe seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Daniel Finney, III of Brown & Brown PL in St. Louis.
