BELLEVILLE — A man claims he was dispensed the wrong prescription at a Walgreens in East St. Louis, causing him to suffer injuries.
Thomas Conner Jr., filed a complaint in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co., and Robert Harper.
Conner alleges in his complaint that on Oct. 22, 2019, he brought a prescription he received from his physician for the antibiotic Amoxicillin to the Walgreens in East St. Louis. He claims instead of being given the antibiotic he was mistakenly given Balclofen, a medication to treat seizures and Gabapentin, a medication to treat neurological disease. Conner claims he had not been prescribed those medications and had no "medical necessity" to take the medications.
Conner claims he suffered "great physical pain" as well as mental anguish.
He alleges that the defendants were negligent for giving him medications without his doctor's knowledge or consent and without a prescription. He also alleges they failed to confirm that the proper medication was given to the correct customer.
Conner seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Matthew Marlen of Matthew J. Marlen PC in Belleville.
