BELLEVLLE — A woman claims Memorial Hospital Belleville and one of its surgeons failed to properly treat and diagnose her condition.

Lauren Theuerkauf filed a complaint Feb. 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Eric Snook, DPM, Associated Foot Surgeons of Belleville LTD and Protestant Memorial Medical Center Inc., individually and doing business as Memorial Hospital Belleville, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Theuerkauf underwent surgery on her left foot for the excision of a "neuroma of the third interspace," which was performed by Snook at Memorial Hospital Belleville on Feb. 7, 2019. She alleges that she had pain and hypersensitivity after the procedure and was diagnosed with "complex pain syndrome."

Theuerkaurf claims Snook failed to use a proper technique in performing her surgery and failed to properly diagnose and treat her complex regional pain syndrome.

She alleges she has suffered serious and permanent injury, lost wages and has incurred medical expenses for treatment.

Theuerkauf seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Mark Prince of the The Prince Law Firm in Marion.
