Stobbs sworn in to at-large circuit court seat, filling vacancy of retired judge Matoesian

Stephen Stobbs was sworn in as at-large judge of the Third Judicial Circuit - covering Madison and Bond counties - on Saturday, Dec. 5 by Associate Judge Tom Chapman.

Stobbs, who was first appointed to the bench as an associate judge in 2006, was joined by his family, (from left) daughters Grace, Caroline and Madeleine, along with wife Kate and son Stephen, holding the family's Bible.

”From my time serving on the county board, representing Godfrey, through my 14 years as an associate judge, I am honored to continue serving the people of Madison and Bond counties," Stobbs said. 

“I couldn’t be more proud to serve as a Circuit Judge and will continue to do so with honor, impartiality and fairness to all."

Stobbs, Republican, defeated opponent Democrat opponent Leslie Ann Wood in last monthj's election by a margin of 56.9 percent to 43.1 percent, or 74,637 to 56,472 votes. He succeeds retired circuit judge Andreas Matoesian.
