BELLEVILLE — A woman claims she was attacked by a dog with known "vicious" tendencies while an invited guest at a Belleville home.
Ruth Moore filed a complaint Nov. 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Doreen Walsh, alleging negligence and statutory liability.
According to her complaint, Moore was at Walsh's home on Dunn Road in Belleville on July 27, 2019, as a guest and invitee. She alleges that Walsh's dog was not "secured or on a leash" when the dog bit "latched on and shook her while biting her left arm "multiple times" as well as her left side near her rib cage and back.
Moore claims she did not provoke the dog and that Walsh's dog had "the vicious propensity to commit attacks similar to the one that occurred" against her. She claims that Walsh was negligent for failing to exercise control of the dog and failing to keep the dog leashed" or otherwise restrained." She also alleges that Walsh knew or should have known of the dog's vicious tendencies.
As a result, Moore claims she suffered pain and has sustained damages for medical treatment.
Moore seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. She is represented by Gary Burger Jr. of Burger Law LLC in St. Louis.
