EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing the owners of a pit bull after she was allegedly attacked at her South Roxana home.

Sheena Frost filed a complaint Nov 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Joel Meador, Jamie Hayes and Jim Hayes, alleging premises liability, negligence and violation of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to her complaint, Frost was "peaceably conducting herself on her own premises and without provocation" in South Roxana on Aug. 7. She alleges a pit bull that resided at the defendants' premises attacked her while she was on her property.

Frost claims she suffered "torn flesh," nerve, muscle, and tendon damage and permanent scarring. She also alleges she has incurred past and future medical expenses as a result of the alleged attack.

Frost also claims the pit bull "had aggressive tendencies" and "constituted a dangerous condition," which the defendants knew or should have known about. Frost alleges the defendants are negligent in failing to warn adjacent property owners such as herself of the "dog's dangerous propensity" and failed to keep the dog from jumping the fence, which was "not suitable to contain the animal."

Frost seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Lanny Darr of The Darr Law Offices LTD in Alton.
