Laborer alleges Highland wrecking, demolition company failed to pay proper wages

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE – A Highland wrecking and demolition company is accused of failing to pay one of its laborers proper wages, overtime and a promised bonus.

Brett Mallard filed a complaint Oct. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Razer LLC, alleging violation of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act.

According to his complaint, Mallard claims he began employment with Razer as a laborer in August 2018 and alleges he had an agreement for a wage of $17 per hour plus overtime. He alleges that in August 2019, Razer agreed to an increase his pay to $19 per hour plus overtime. Mallard claims that he was required to work at Fort Hood for three months and was promised he would receive a $2,400 "bonus" if he would continue to work at that location for an additional three months.

Mallard alleges Razer failed to pay him "proper wages, overtime or the bonus he was promised." He also alleges Razer violated the Illinois Wage Payment Collection Act by failing to pay him proper wages. Mallard claims he has not only suffered from unpaid compensation but has also incurred legal costs in his effort to obtain his proper wages.

Mallard seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by John Leskera and Justin Leskera of The Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
