Man claims Fast Eddie's 'bouncers' used unreasonable force against him

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing Fast Eddie's Bon-Air and two "bouncers," claiming they used excessive force to restrain him.

Blake Damery filed a complaint  Aug. 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Fast Eddie's Bon-Air Inc., Anthony Joseph Greco and John Eccles alleging negligence and false imprisonment.

According to the complaint, Damery was at Fast Eddie's located on 4th Street in Alton on Aug. 11, 2018 where Greco and Eccles were working as "bouncers." Damery alleges he was at Fast Eddie's to purchase food and drinks when he was approached by Greco and Eccles, who allegedly hit him, threw him to the ground, pinned him down, choked him and "repeatedly" punched him in the face. He also alleges Greco and Eccles kept him restrained on the ground until the police arrived and arrested him for criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

Damery claims Greco and Eccles used "more force than was reasonably necessary" against him and that as a result of their alleged assault, he suffered a frontal sinus fracture, a fractured nasal bone and hemorrhage in his sinus cavity.

He also claims he suffered humiliation, embarrassment, damage to his reputation and emotional trauma.

Damery alleges that Greco's and Eccles' actions were "intentional" assault and battery and that they are not properly trained, "licensed private security guards."

Damery seeks monetary relief of more than $25,000 and all other appropriate relief. He is represented by R. Tyson Mutrux of St. Louis.
